Will laundry detergent affect my skin?

Many factors can aggravate acne ,cause irritation and more break-outs, and yes, one of those factors is laundry detergent! Detergents with heavy fragrances and chemicals can result in clogged/ irritated pores. This will lead to more serious break-outs. 

Your pillow cases, blankets, towels, wash cloths and clothes all contain the fragrances/chemicals of your laundry detergent. You will notice the break outs and irritation mostly on your face, chest and back; where these items have constant contact with your skin. This also goes for fabric softeners and dryer sheets. 

Ways to avoid break-outs from detergents is to use only free and clear liquid detergents and avoid fabric softeners at all cost! Using an extra rinse cycle is also recommended!  Use a cup of white vinegar in your rinse cycle. Dry everything on a lower heat setting to avoid static cling.
